Konan photo coming soon... Konan It has been hard for me to write Konan’s profile as he was my very first Siberian Husky, and meant the entire world to me for a very long time. He passed away at 13 years old, which was a few years after I thought he would for various health reasons. Konan changed my life forever. He introduced me to this fabulous breed and to the sport of dog sledding. He opened my eyes to a whole world out there that I new nothing about. But he lied to me too… he showed me that a Siberian could be off-leash, that it would sleep next to an open door and never jump or climb. Because of him I got another one-who was NOTHING like him! (See Grace’s profile!) Konan was my hiking partner, wearing a backpack for many miles although earning only one leg out of three for a backpacking title because I never pursued it. He was a Canine Good Citizen and visited several schools to entertain children with me. All this for $100! For that was all Konan cost me. He was a cow-hocked, over-sized Siberian from basically a back yard breeder who’s pedigree was the same on both sides (meaning mom and dad were full brother and sister). But Konan had a flawless temperament, was loved by all the kids (including kids from the Special Olympics class I coached briefly in horseback riding), and is still missed by everyone that knew him. When he left me he left a huge whole in my heart which will never be whole again. I will miss him forever. Please enjoy his pictures, he meant a lot to me, and everyone he came in contact with. God Bless You Konan! I will see you one day again! |
